Salisbury Elementary School placed in modified lockdown March 22

Salisbury police responded to Salisbury Elementary School March 22 after a person allegedly verbally and physically assaulted school staff and volunteers, according to authorities.

The incident was detailed in a news release as follows:

At about 1:44 p.m. township police officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Taft Avenue for a report of “an individual acting out.”

At about the same time police officers, were called to the elementary school for a person allegedly “verbally and physically assaulting volunteers and school staff.”

The school was placed in a modified lockdown and the person was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation.

The lockdown was then lifted.

A social media post estimated the lockdown lasted 20 minutes.

According to Salisbury police, several staff and volunteers were attacked and two were transported to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.

No students were injured, according to authorities.

According to a social media post, counselors were available for students and staff March 23.
