Parkland senior Adrian Gacek finished of his high school wrestling career on the podium in Hershey last weekend.

Gacek took seventh place to earn his first state medal at this year’s PIAA Class 3A Championships, held Thursday through Saturday at Hershey’s Giant Center.

Gacek opened the tournament with a 16-1 win by technical fall over Strath Haven’s Sam Milligan to earn a place in the 189-pound quarterfinals.

The District 11 and Northeast Regional champ dropped his semifinal match to eventual tournament runner up Cole Bartarm (Northern), but bounced back with a 5-2 win over Jake Conroy (Ringgold) in his first consolation bout.

Gacek dropped a 5-4 decision to Brody Evans (Waynesburg) in his next consolation bout to fall into the seventh-place match. A 3-0 win over Abington Height’s Caleb Marzolino sealed the seventh-place medal for the future Clarion University wrestler.
