Donald William Snyder, 71, of Orefield, died at home, March 4, 2023. He was the husband of Nancy A. Snyder for 46 years.
He was born in Greenawalds.
He was a graduate of Parkland High School in 1969, Lehigh Carbon Community College in 1971, Penn State University in 1973, Lehigh University in 1976, Villanova University School of Law in 1982 and the Dickinson School of Law in 1989.
He represented the 134th Legislative District through 20 years of service in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives 1981-2000, including serving as House Republican caucus chairman 1995-96 and as House majority whip from 1997 until his retirement.
He served as president of LCCC 2000-13. He was on the boards of PBS39, the Lehigh County Historical Society, Good Shepherd and the Boy Scouts of America Minsi Trail Council.
He was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, where he held several leadership positions.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Schelly A. and her husband John Harrison; a son, Sean W. and his wife Claire; three grandchildren, Wyatt, Sydney and Graham; and two siblings, Richard J. and Susan E. Sawyer.
There will be visiting hours 9-11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral 11:30 a.m., March 11 at the church, 1837 Church Road, Allentown.
