Carl W. Wertman, 83, of New Tripoli, died on March 2, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

He was the widower of Gloria J. (Solt) Wertman.

Born in New Tripoli, he was the son of the late William J.S. and Perma (Bennighoff) Wertman.

A dispatcher at East Penn Trucking Co. for many years, he previously worked for the former Trojan Powder Co. and General Electric.

He was a member of several local fire companies, the Lynn Heidelberg Historical Society and the Junior Order of United American Mechanics Lodge 204, New Tripoli.

He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli, where he was on the Ebenezer Cemetery Association for many years.

He enjoyed antiques, working on his house and the family farm, spending time with his friends going to auctions and the Kempton Hotel.

He loved being with his family.

His survivors include children Michael C. Wertman (Kelly) of New Tripoli, Sharon L. Lotwick of New Tripoli and Lori A. Hegedus (Charles) of Allentown; grandchildren Jason Christman, Nicole Melnick, Tyler Terleski, and Hudson and Harrison Wertman; great-grandchildren Peyton and Teagen Christman, and Dylan Melnick; and several nieces and nephews.

His service will be 11 a.m. March 10 at Ebenezer UCC, 7293 Decatur St., New Tripoli.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. in the church. Interment in the church cemetery.
