Coplay: Baseball sign-ups March 4

The final sign-up for Coplay Sports’ baseball season, for ages 5-15, is set for noon-2 p.m. March 4 at the Coplay Wildcat Den, 666 Potter Terrace.

Reminder: Coplay Public Library, Fifth and Center streets, is holding a Krispy Kreme sale to raise funds. Orders and payment are due at the library by March 2.

Pickup is set for March 9.

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., has announced its indoor winter evening entertainment nights.

Musical acts include Steve and Steve Duo March 11, Chelsea Lyn Meyer March 25 and Chris “Breeze” Barcynski April 8, all 7-10 p.m.

These events are open to members and their guests only. There is no cover.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is assembling a yearlong celebration for 2023 as the church celebrates its 150th anniversary.

The church will be hosting a free movie day, featuring “The Star,” 1-4 p.m. March 18 at the Roxy Theatre, 2004 Main St., Northampton. The concession stand will be open.

A Son of the Congregation sermon is in the works.

Coplay Saengerbund’s heritage committee is planning to hold a St. Patrick’s Day dance 3-6 p.m. March 19. The Joe Kroboth Band will entertain. Dancers from O’Grady Quinlan Academy of Irish Dance will perform.

It is open to members and guests. There is a cost.

Coplay Saengerbund’s Lumpenball (Bum’s Ball) is set for 3-6 p.m. March 26. Come dressed down in old clothes, hats, etc. Emil Schanta Band will perform.

No reservations are needed. There is a cost for members and guests.

Coplay Sports is offering winter workouts Sundays in March at Hitters Edge in Whitehall for Biddy, Midget and Knee Hi players. There is a small fee.

American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St., is continuing its monthly hoagie sales. Hoagies (regular or tuna) and sandwiches (ham and cheese or tuna) are available.

The Coplay Community Days committee is already planning an exciting 2023 event.

The Aardvarks are scheduled for Aug. 25. This will be the group’s 10th anniversary at the event.

The committee is also expanding its kids activities.

The committee meets 7 p.m. the fourth Monday of every month in Coplay Borough Council chambers, 98 S. Fourth St. Meetings are open to the public.

Coplay Fire Department reminds residents a fire doubles in size every 30 seconds. If you have a fire hydrant on your property, clear snow around the hydrant, so the fire department can locate it quickly to rapidly extinguish a fire.

There are two openings on Coplay council during the 2023 election cycle. If you have a taste for elected politics, there is opportunity.

The deadline for signatures is March 6. There are 10 signatures needed to get on the ballot.
