Hanover approves conditional use for warehouse

At the Feb. 15 Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council meeting, members approved the conditional use request by Sysco Corporation to add to and make changes to its warehouse.

Resolution 2023-31 granted preliminary/final land development approval of Rockefeller Industrial Development, Sysco Tenant Fitout for Lot 5A at 800 Willowbrook Road. The resolution contains 13 conditions. The resolution passed unanimously.

Sysco is a broadline food distributor, with more than 600,000 clients in a wide array of fields. The company operates approximately 330 distribution facilities worldwide, providing service to more than 90 countries.

Council approved authorization for township Manager Melissa A. Wehr to reduce the letter of credit and commerce for the maintenance period for Rockefeller Group at the Willowbrook Road warehouse in the amount of $2,044,225.16, leaving a security as $322,772.39 for the 18-month maintenance period.

Council also authorized Wehr to release the improvements security for the Willowbrook Road widening project for Rockefeller Group, in the amount of $555,495.60.

Bill 2023-01 was passed amending the statutory code of Hanover Township to establish standards and responsibility for trimming, pruning or removing street trees in a diseased or dangerous condition.

The amendment adds the inclusion of a tree with a dangerous condition, also known as a distressed tree, for removal. Wehr and public works Maintenance Supervisor Josef A. Fragnito are charged with deciding what is a distressed tree requiring removal.

Resolutions and ordinances are available for review by calling the township office.

Council also approved the payment of bills for Feb. 15 in the amount of $611,010.59.

The next council meeting will be 7 p.m. March 1 at the municipal building, 2202 Grove Road. It is an in-person meeting only.
