Paul L. Yannes

Paul L. Yannes, 86, of Allentown, died on Jan. 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Sacred Heart Senior Living, Center Valley.

He and his wife, MaryAnn (Zeleznock) Yannes, celebrated 63 years of marriage last April.

Born in Nuremberg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Florence (Nicolodi) Yannes.

He served four years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, and received an honorable discharge.

He was a tool and dye maker for Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent for 35 years before retiring.

He was a member of The Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena, Allentown.

One of the founders of the South Parkland Youth Association, he coached there for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, reading, gardening, stained glass, walking and, most of all, tinkering in his basement workshop.

He placed a high priority on the value of higher education and passed that on to his family.

He will be remembered as being very inquisitive and having a great sense of humor, with the ability to connect with everyone he met.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Diana L. Gaul and her husband, Michael A., Esq. of Bethlehem; Maria Y. DiGirolamo of Allentown; sons Paul L. Yannes Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Orlando, Fla. and Daniel M. Yannes and his wife, Lisa M., of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Michael Yannes M.D., Alexa Dorman, Joey DiGirolamo, Zachary Yannes Ph.D., and Tyler and Jake Yannes; and great-grandchildren Luke, Stella, Jane, Sadie and Finn. He was predeceased by his siblings Anne and Frank Yannes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Jan. 27 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.

Friends and family may call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday in the church.

Interment with military honors will be at the Resurrection Cemetery.
