Hiram G. Helfrich Jr.

Hiram G. Helfrich Jr., 88, of Lower Macungie Township, died Jan. 9, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of the late Anna L. (Yoachim) Helfrich. Born in Zionsville, he was the son of the late Eva F. (Farber) and Hiram G. Helfrich Sr.

He was a mechanic and owned and operated the former Helfrich’s Gulf and Citgo in Emmaus and Helfrich’s Accessories in Zionsville. He was a school bus driver for East Penn School District for 33 years.

He was a member of Chestnut Hill Church U.C.C. and a member of the former Emmaus Nest of Owls.

He is survived by his sons, Glenn A., of Hereford and Gerry A. and his wife, Irma, of Mt. Zion, Ill.; daughter, Gloria A. Roeder, of Center Valley; grandchildren, Scott M. and his wife, Maureen, of Mountville, Stephanie R., Timothy A., of Mt. Zion, Ill; great-grandchildren, Dara A., Eamon M., Clare R., of Mountville; sisters, Mary Horn, of Emmaus and Suzanne and her husband, Elmer Kester, of Columbia, S.C. He was predeceased by a grandson, Nathaniel, a son-in-law, Michael Roeder, a daughter-in-law, Linda, brothers, Edward Bergsman Sr. and Robert, sister, Dolores Heimbach.
