Dorothy Caroline Becker Hess, 92, of Newport News, Va., and formerly of Northampton, died Jan. 12, 2023. She was the wife of the late Jerome Gould Hess.

Born in Kreidersville, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Rose (Petko) Becker.

She was employed by Acme Markets for more than 35 years, retiring in 1989. She and her husband built and owned the Hillside Miniature Golf Course in 1959.

She was a longtime volunteer at the Allen Township Fire Company, as well as Musikfest.

She is survived by a daughter, Becky Ann Plarr of Newport News, Va.; a grandson, Maxwell J. Plarr and wife Lexy of Hampton, Va.; a sister, Kathleen and husband Dennis Petrie of Kutztown; and other family members and friends.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Steven; a sister, Josephine Wieand; and two brothers, Stanley and Richard Becker.

There will be a calling time 10-11 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service, Jan. 21 at the funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067.

Contributions may be made to the restoration of the Hillside Miniature Golf Course, c/o the funeral home.
