LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Hurricanes earn girls title

Salisbury hosted its annual Holiday Basketball Tournament last week and the Falcon girls team played one of its best overall games of the season against Saucon Valley, but came up just short, falling to the Panthers by a 41-39 score. In the consolation final, the Lady Falcons lost to Oley Valley 49-17.

In the loss to Saucon Valley (4-6 overall, 3-4 Colonial League), sophomore Kendra Morgan scored a career-high 12 points to lead Salisbury (0-7, 0-5). Junior Desiree Nales finished with 10 points, while classmate Tula Reihman dropped in eight points, and senior Hannah Kamp had seven against the Panthers before leading Salisbury with eight the following night against Oley Valley.

The downfall against the Panthers came in free-throw shooting as Salisbury went just 7-for-18 (39 -percent) from the line. On the season, Salisbury is shooting 40 percent from the free-throw line.

The following night, Oley Valley hit six three-pointers to pick up the win and a third-place finish in the tournament, which was won by Liberty when it downed Saucon Valley 68-32.

The Lady Falcons are back in action tomorrow night against Northwestern Lehigh (8-1, 4-1) before hosting Southern Lehigh (2-7, 2-3) next Monday.
