VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

·Bethlehem Emergency Shelter seeks volunteers with basic computer skills to assist Day Center guests one-on-one with online applications for benefits, employment searches, housing searches, and locating local services. Shifts available are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Adults only.

·Community Bike Works needs volunteers to help in its food pantry at Keck Park, Allentown. There are a variety of needs from heavier lifting to seated work. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. Up to three volunteers each day. Minimum age 15 with adult.

·Center for Career Pathways at Allentown campus of Lehigh Carbon Community College needs volunteer classroom aides for its Adult Literacy Program. Work virtually or in person with adult English language learners (ESL) or high school equivalency (GED) students on math, reading, writing, social studies, and science. Flexible schedule. Materials and resources provided. Bachelor’s degree in any field. Minimum age 21.

·The Greater Valley YMCA in Allentown is looking for a volunteer to teach simple, basic sign language to the infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in our program. Spend about 5-10 minutes in each of seven classrooms one time weekly, 9-11:30 a.m. Minimum age 16 with adult.

·Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites needs greeters to share general information about the exhibits and help answer visitor questions during busy periods in the museum. Request at least two shifts per month. Shifts are generally three to four hours during open hours. Minimum age 16.

·Sights For Hope needs compassionate and energetic individuals to assist clients with visual impairments during walk at South Mall 9-10:30 a.m. each Wednesday morning. Clients walk for exercise and need companions as sighted guides during this time. Sighted guide training provided, and current FBI criminal background check clearance required. Minimum age 21.
