North Catasauqua sets meeting schedule

The North Catasauqua Borough Council meeting schedule will remain on the first and third Mondays of each month for 2023. There will be an exception for the first meeting of the year, which will take place 7 p.m. Jan. 3, 2023, a Tuesday.

The borough’s planning commission continues to meet 5:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month.

The complete schedule for both the council and planning commission can be found on the borough’s website, northcatasauqua.org.

Borough council will be voting on a new millage rate for the 2023 year at the Jan. 3, 2023, meeting. Council will consider shifting the rate to 15.2% for the purpose of increasing revenue for the borough. This will be a tax increase of 1.5%, as the current rate is 13.7%.

Council will also vote on naming a new borough road during the January meeting. The proposed ordinance will dedicate the roadway from the 1400 block of Main Street to the new extension addition of the Delaware and Lehigh Trail. The proposed name - Moyer Way - will honor former North Catasauqua Police Chief Kim Moyer.

All of the proposed ordinances can be viewed 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Fridays at the North Catasauqua Borough office, 1066 Fourth St. If any person viewing the ordinance requires the assistance of auxiliary aid, service or any other accommodations, contact the borough office at least five days before the council meeting.

In other business, North Catasauqua is looking to fill the treasurer role. The position will be full time - 40 hours per week - with a schedule from Monday to Friday and the possibility of overtime. Salary will be determined based on experience but will be in the range of $20-$25 per hour.

More information on the position can be found at northcatasauqua.org, and applications are available at borough hall. All completed applications and resumes should be turned into the borough office by Dec. 16.

The borough will also be seeking bidders for the following equipment and operations for the 2023 year: Tri-Axle dump truck, D4 bulldozer or equivalent, backhoe, rubber tire loader, tractor-trailer for oversized equipment, excavator and skid steer. North Catasauqua will be requesting hourly rates for equipment and laborers to run the equipment.

The bids will be open until 4 p.m. Dec. 30 and can be sent to borough Secretary Tasha Jandrisovits. Bids will be announced during the January council meeting.

Council next meets 7 p.m. Dec. 5. To view any of the proposed ordinances up for discussion, visit the borough’s office.
