Coplay: Christmas tree lighting set for Dec. 1

The Coplay Borough Recreation and Welfare Association invites all to the tree lighting and holiday concert, set for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St.

Santa will be there, with Lorri Woodward and Rob Ballonoff providing entertainment.

Light refreshments will be served, and kids receive a small gift.


Coplay Sports is holding a Toys for Tots donation drive. Donations will be accepted 6-8 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Wildcat Den, 666 Potter Terrace.

The Michael Ann and Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation designer purse bingo is planned for Dec. 9 at American Club of Coplay, 300 Cherry St.

Doors open 5 p.m., and bingo starts 6 p.m.

There will be food and beverages for sale. All proceeds benefit the foundation.

The Coplay Sports Santa parade is scheduled for Dec. 11, starting 10:30 a.m. on Front Street.

Gift drop-off is 6-8 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Wildcat Den, 666 Potter Terrace.

Be sure to clearly mark your gift with a name, address and phone number.


Coplay Food Bank is seeking donations for the holiday season. Much-needed items are canned sweet potatoes, canned fruit, Jell-O mixes, cereal, peanut butter, jelly and canned meats like SpaghettiOs, ravioli, etc.

Drop off items at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St.

The food bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.


Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is planning its New Year’s Eve celebration called the Sylvester dance.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is planning a chicken potpie pickup dinner Jan. 21, 2023.

The church is assembling a yearlong celebration for 2023 as the church celebrates its 150th-year anniversary.


Coplay Public Library is seeking a library director to work 32 hours a week, as well as an assistant library director.

American Club of Coplay has restarted its monthly hoagie sales. Hoagies (regular or tuna) and sandwiches (ham and cheese or tuna) are available.

Leaves will continue to be picked up through Dec. 30. Yard waste and grass can be dropped off 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at 1 Bridge St.

Coplay Athletic Club is seeking 2023 new and renewal memberships - $90 per year and $80 for renewals. The gym is located on the second floor of the municipal building.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has a special mailbox in front of the Post, 134 S. Second St. Worn-out American flags can be deposited there for the Post to properly retire the flags.
