Assistant HS principal hired

While exceptionally short at just over 20 minutes, the Nov. 7 Saucon Valley School Board meeting featured the approval of a new high school assistant principal, filling the vacancy left by Amy Braxmeier’s recent promotion.

Teresa Casimire most recently served for approximately six months as principal of Easton Arts Academy Elementary Charter School and also worked as an administrator in the South Amboy School District in the mid-2010s. She was approved unanimously and will receive a prorated salary of $105,000.

Casimire was in attendance, and Board President Dr. Shamim Pakzad commended her background. He also noted that, “after some time, all of the [district’s] buildings” are fully staffed with leadership.

In other business, the board approved a middle school track and field coach for the upcoming season. The desire for a paid coach had been raised at several prior meetings, and district parent Katie Wechtler was on hand to pre-emptively thank the board for its consideration during the public comment portion at the evening’s outset.

The board also approved, with regret, the retirement of middle school math teacher Daniel Mack, as of the end of the academic year. Pakzad and directors Cedric Dettmar and Bryan Eichfeld said their children were students of Mack’s in the past with Dettmar adding “he did a great job… so I’m sad to see him go.”
