VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

·Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley needs volunteers to bring extra smiles to children this holiday season by purchasing gifts for children in the community. All Holiday Hope Chests are donated to local nonprofit partners who support youth in the community through their programs and services. This program is a great project for large or small groups, clubs, classes, families, and individuals.

To participate, go to volunteerlv.org/holiday-hope-chests and fill out a 2022 Donor Pledge Form.

·Catholic Charities Diocese of Allentown needs a volunteer ombudsman, a community neighbor, who is specially trained to find answers and resolve simple problems older adults experience in the long-term care system and who enjoy visiting with others and who have time available to visit residents in Northampton and Lehigh counties. Required background checks and training provided by Catholic Charities Diocese of Allentown.

·Kemerer Museum needs volunteers to provide information about museum tour opportunities while keeping a watchful eye over the exhibits. Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites greeters also share general information about the exhibits and help answer visitor questions. Request at least two shifts per month, generally three to four hours, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday to Sunday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday-Sunday during Christmas season. Minimum age 16.

·Fowler Literacy Center at ProJeCt of Easton is accepting volunteer applications for the position of test proctor. Volunteers will ensure a controlled testing environment that will allow test-takers to perform to the very best of their abilities for the CASAS test (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems) and/or the GED (General Education Development). Training required. Time commitment: 2-10 hours per week.

·Salvation Army Foster Care and Adoption Services needs volunteers to purchase and stuff a stocking with gifts for a specific child in its foster care system or give foster and adoptive families something they can do together as a family.
