Norma M. Armitage

Norma M. Armitage, 93, of Allentown, died Nov. 8, 2022, in ProMedica Skilled Nursing, Allentown.

She was the spouse of Gwendlyn J. “Gwen” Armitage and the late Steward S. Snyder Jr.

Born Aug. 30, 1929 in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm M. and Isabel V. (Folk) Mackes.

A 1947 graduate of Emmaus High School and a 1949 graduate of the former Allentown Business College, she was a secretary for East Penn School District for many years before retiring in 1993.

She was a member of the East Penn Retired Secretaries Club and a pinochle club.

She loved gardening, viewing sports, was an avid reader and traveler, and mostly, she loved her family.

She was a member at Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall, and a founding member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.

In addition to her loving spouse, Gwen, she is survived by sons Todd A. Snyder, Sr. (Mary) of Alburtis, Jeffrey L. Snyder (Dorene Cunningham) of Parkdale, Ore.; daughter Audrey L. Wanamaker (Ralph Jr.) of Bethlehem; brother Arlan Mackes (Trudy) of Braselton, Ga.; sisters-in-law E. Lynn Heimbach (Ed Keichel) of Cementon, and Beverly K. Montgomery (James) of Centerville; brother-in-law, Jay F. Armitage of East Stroudsburg; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and cousins.
