Wind Creek opens spacious new facilities

Local media toured the new Wind Creek Foundry Ballroom at the Wind Creek Hotel Oct. 27, the first to observe the 23,000-square-foot ballroom, a 7,000-square-foot Moravian room, and a 3,000-square-foot Monocacy room. These will provide meeting and event space for weddings, trade shows and conventions.

Director of Corporate Communications Julia Corwin said Wind Creek wanted to “solidify itself as a destination” in light of New York casino development. A second hotel tower will also planned, bringing Wind Creek’s hotel capacity to 500 rooms. Corwin said the existing hotel has been running at 92-93 percent occupancy, but added that area hotels would also see increased demand.

Wedding Sales Coordinator Jennifer Bender said an upcoming bridal show Nov. 15 will have 20 vendors in the existing Vision Nightclub and that tours for couples who would like to visit the new ballroom facilities would be available.

Corwin described the new facilities as “flexible.” The Foundry Ballroom can be divided into nine separate meeting and event rooms. Hallways surrounding the room are spacious to allow for socializing, lobby bars and cocktail hours and a large kitchen will help expand food preparation capacity to meet the demand of large and multiple events.
