VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

·Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley needs help bringing smiles to children this holiday season by purchasing gifts for children in the community. All Holiday Hope Chests donated go to regional nonprofit partners who support youth in the community through their programs and services. This is a great project for large/small groups, clubs, classes, families, and individuals.

To participate, go to volunteerlv.org/holiday-hope-chests and fill out a 2022 Donor Pledge Form.

·Red Cross, Allentown, needs volunteers over the next several months to help with light office work, occasional errands, greet visitors and provide support by answering phones. Requires light computer work. 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

·Catholic Charities Diocese of Allentown needs a volunteer ombudsman, a community neighbor who is specially trained to find answers and resolve simple problems older adults experience in the long-term care system and who enjoy visiting with others, helping to find answers, and have time available to visit residents in Northampton and Lehigh counties. Required background checks and training provided by Catholic Charities Diocese of Allentown.

·The Greater Valley YMCA, Allentown, needs a volunteer who knows basic sign language to teach infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Spend about 5-10 minutes in each of seven classrooms classroom, one time weekly, between 9-11:30 a.m. Minimum age 16 with adult.

·Trees of Historic Bethlehem display is a time-honored tradition in Bethlehem. With over 26 trees on display across five historic sites, guides are needed assist at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts to lead guests through the museum to see the Trees of Historic Bethlehem exhibit offered from November to early January 2023. Guides will be provided with general information to share with visitors while providing an engaging tour experience for visitors of all ages. Minimum age 16.

·St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking volunteers to help in medical centers throughout the area. Multiple roles and locations are available. Minimum age 14.
