Reinhard, Emmaus girls are league champions

The Emmaus girls cross country team has been awesome all season and nothing changed during last Tuesday’s Eastern Pennsylvania Conference cross country championships at DeSales University.

The Green Hornets earned the league championship and placed four girls in the top 10, including overall winner Hailey Reinhard, who registered an outstanding 18:58 time. Reinhard was the only runner to break the 19-minute mark in the EPC girls championship race.

Emmaus finished with 29 points, well ahead of second-place Easton, who accumulated 73 points.

“There is more depth this year compared to last year, and there are a number of athletes who have the ability to make a big difference,” Emmaus head coach Kami Reinhard said. “I feel these girls display top-notch character, and hold very high standards.”

Hailey Reinhard, a senior, consistently outperforms the competition with her superlative training, endurance and running acumen. Last Tuesday the Hornets’ team title aspirations benefited greatly from Hailey Reinhard, but the team showcased also their depth.

Earning a second-place finish was Emmaus’ Madelyn McCartney, who clocked 15 seconds behind Hailey Reinhard. The next Hornet runner was Addison Johnson, who finished seventh in 20:16. She was followed by Payton Campbell in the 10th position at 20:46.

Two other Emmaus runners - Nicole Nosal and Addison Shank - earned 12th and 15th place finishes. Nosal clocked in at 20:48, while Addison finished in 21 minutes.

Isabella Scarlata took 21st place, while Sophia Kovalski claimed 23rd and Olivia Fleck took 25th.

The District 11 Class 3A championship is scheduled for Oct. 26 at DeSales University.
