‘Almost, Maine’ opens Nov. 3

For its fall play, the Emmaus High School Theater Department will present “Almost, Maine,” a romantic comedy detailing the interconnected love tales of various couples. Performances will run Nov. 3, 4 and 5, with each show beginning 7 p.m. Tickets may be pre-purchased through the EHS website or purchased at the door.

The Stinger’s October issue is now available. Pick up a copy from the green newspaper boxes located near the main office, Room 559 or the HIVE. Managing editors should complete their respective sections of the December issue budget by Nov. 4.

All EHS sophomores are invited to apply for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar, a summer opportunity scheduled June 9-11 at Neumann University.

This program allows 10th grade students to meet with state leaders and pursue community service projects to bolster leadership skills. Interested students may apply through the Google Form linked in the EHS announcements. All applications are due Nov. 7. With questions, contact the counseling office.

Kid to Kid will hold a meeting 2:30-3 p.m. Nov. 10 in Room 227. Their agenda includes planning fundraisers and winter activities. With questions, contact jmartini@eastpennsd.org.

On Nov. 14, the EHS Debate Team will compete at Allentown Central Catholic High School. Team members should immediately report to the auditorium by 8 a.m. and must bring money to purchase lunch en route at Wegmans. The team is expected to return to EHS by 12:45 p.m.

Any students interested in taking the open exam for the USA Biology Olympiad must register by Nov. 16. The exam will be administered at EHS Feb. 2, 2023 after school. To register, visit https://www.usabo-trc.org/ and select “Emmaus High School” when entering information.

Students may also join the Biology Olympiad Study Club to prepare for the test – meetings are held in Room 317. For club information, contact zlabar@eastpennsd.org.

Now through Nov. 28, Interact Club will collect toothpaste tubes and Key Club will collect deodorant sticks. Both collections will benefit the EHS Angel Network as they create holiday baskets for families in need. Donation boxes for both clubs are available outside Room 524. The eSports Team is seeking new members for Valorant, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Overwatch teams. Meetings are held twice a month in Room 375, with competitions occurring now through the spring. Questions may be directed to jdietrick@eastpennsd.org.
