David J. Schneck

David John Schneck, 79, of Zionsville, died peacefully at home Oct. 8, 2022. He was the husband of Emma Jane (Mars) Schneck for 56 years. Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Ernest and Emily (Hoy) Schneck, of Pine Grove.

He was a 1960 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School. After graduation, he completed a home study course in drafting from Chicago Technical School and a heavy equipment operators course in Wilkes-Barre.

During his teen years, he was a newspaper carrier for the Pottsville Republican newspaper and a farm laborer for the Ronald Daubert Dairy Farm, Pine Grove.

After graduation he worked as a miner in a mine owned by Tom Daubert, Pine Grove; as a laborer at the Garden State Tannery, Reading and then as a laborer advancing to superintendent for James D. Morrissey, Inc., Philadelphia. He was employed by JDM, Inc. for 58 years.

In addition to working for JDM, Inc., he started his own business (David J. Schneck Logging, Inc.) and built two family homes.

His favorite hobby was work and he found time to enjoy hunting and camping.

In his young adult life he enjoyed playing his cornet.

He was a member of Paradise Valley Hunting Club, Pine Grove, a member of Footlog Rod and Gun Club, Poe Valley and a member of Zionsville Community Fish and Game Association.

He is survived by his wife; sons, David Allen and his wife, Carolyn (Coffey Anderson), of Basking Ridge, N.J., Andrew John and his wife, Deb (Jefferson), of Auburn; grandchildren, Gabriel and his wife, Taylor (Yandle), of Alburtis, Kacie, of Auburn, Lindsey Anderson and her fiancé, Erik Higginbotham, of Marietta, Ga., Paige Anderson and her fiancé, Tommy Wehrkamp, of Huntersville, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Emma Catherine, of Alburtis; brother, Lynn and his wife, Linda (Daubert); sisters, Dawn Kohler, Marion and her husband, Nick DeFlavio, Dana and her husband, Myrl Troutman; sister-in-law, Faye (Reinhart), all of Pine Grove; many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and nieces and great-grandnephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank (Butch), a daughter-in-law, Roxane (Schweitzer), brother-in-law, Roger Kohler and a nephew, Cody Troutman.
