Remaley takes third at district tourney

Two Northwestern Lehigh golfers competed in Monday’s District 11 Championships at Olde Homestead Golf Course.

The Tigers’ Addison Remaley took third place in the Class 2A girls field with a 107. While her third-place finish was good enough to advance to next week’s regionals, a score under 100 is also required to move on.

Remaley, a sophomore playing in her first district championship, shot 53 on the front nine and 54 on the back nine, although the nines were playing opposite of the traditional Olde Homestead layout to allow players to finish near the clubhouse.

Tiger teammate Avri Chandler also competed in the tournament Monday. The third-place finisher in this year’ Colonial League champioship, Chandler shot 109 to tie for fifth place Monday. The freshman shot 51 on the front nine but made a few too many big numbers on the second nine, where she shot 58.

In Class 2A, Moravian Academy’s Evan Eichenlaub and Palmerton’s Tyler Hager shot the low rounds of the day with 2-over par 74s before the Eichenlaub, the Colonial League champ, won the title in a playoff. The Blue Bombers took the 2A team title.

In 2A girls, Mara Dabacher of Moravian Academy took first place with a 94.

Liberty’s Matthew Vital won the boys 3A title with a 3-over par 75, two strokes better than teammate Jase Barker. The Hurricanes took the top three individual places to cruise to this year’s team title, their third consecutive team championship.

Nazareth’s Camryn Hoff won the girls 3A title with an 85, one stroke ahead of Bangor’s Natalie White.
