The Whitehall field hockey team knocked off Pleasant Valley recently, 7-1.

Ava Demjan got the Zephs on the board first but Molly Sobers would tie the game 1-1 for PV on an assist by Mattison Hyland.

But it was all Whitehall from there as Emma Bonshak made it 2-1 on a pass from Ava Kozak.

Lydia Keppel made it 3-1 and Matisyn Derkacs made it 4-1.

Bonshak would score again to make it 5-1 before Catherine Hudak made it 6-1 thanks to a pass from Bonshak.

Olivia Fonzone scored the final goal to make it 7-1.

The girl would fall to Pocono Mountain East, 3-2 in overtime

PME led 1-0 after halftime on a goal from Mikenna Price who was assisted by Mia Lopez.

Lily Kaufman scored PME’s second goal on a pass from Dakota Stiff and Price would get the OT winner unassisted.

Scoring for the Zephs were Emma Bonshak and Matisyn Derkacs.

Pocono Mountain East keeper Lauren Waldstein registered 4 saves and Mia Lopez stopped two.

Lilliana Trocki collected 7 saves for the Zephs.


In cross country action, last week the girls lost to Stroudsburg 16-47, were edged by Eastburg North 28-29 and lost to Eastburg South 20-43.

The boys won 20-43 vs. Eastburg South, lost to Eastburg North 23-42 and lost to Stroudsburg 21-40.

The Zephs meet on Tuesday was rained out.

In the boys race, Liam Davis was the top finisher with a time of 16:51.24. Duke Ebert of Central was second in 17:06.81.

Christian Foehrkolb was the top Whitehall finisher taking 13th in 18:20.22. Austin Hedrick took 18th with a time of 18:34.99.

Vinson Eggleston was 28th in 19:19.40 and Aiden Borgenhagen was 33rd in 19:23.47.

On the girls side, Emmaus took the first four places including Madelyn McCartney taking first with a time of 19:27.03, just ahead of teammate Hailey Reinhard’s time of 19:27.56

For Whitehall, Mikayla Warren took 18th in 22:44.64. Just outside the top-40 was Tessa Hopkins who took 41st in 24.26.05.
