Pates hire Marino as wrestling coach

Freedom’s wrestling program appointed a new head coach last week, with former Liberty graduate Anthony Marino set to take over the reigns.

Marino replaces Dante Terenzio, who resigned over the summer after leading the program over the past four years.

“We’re extremely excited to welcome coach Marino as our new head coach here at Freedom High School,” Athletic Director Nate Stannard said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge through his coaching experiences and his own wrestling career. We are excited for the continued success of our wrestling program with coach Marino at the helm.”

Marino is a 2010 graduate of Liberty, where he compiled a 128-27 career mark, including two district 11 titles, a Northeast regional crown and a second-place finish in Hershey his senior year. He wrestled at East Stroudsburg in college and then coached at Stroudsburg for five seasons, before joining Terenzio on his staff over the past two years.

The Pates are coming off an 18-5 season a year ago and lost only four starters to graduation.
