Heavenly Hat Day at SES Oct. 7

Oct. 7 is a busy day for Salisbury township schools. It will be a school T-shirt day and Heavenly Hat Day for Salisbury Elementary School.

Heavenly Hat Day is a day students can wear their favorite hat to school and make a donation to the Heavenly Hats Foundation. The foundation distributes new hats to people who have lost their hair to disease or treatment. It was founded by 10-year-old Anthony Leanna in 2001 and has distributed over 4,500,000 hats.

Also on Oct. 7 is the first Salisbury Middle School dance and activity night. The evening will be split into two sections. From 6-7:30 p.m., the evening belongs to the fifth and sixth graders. From 7:45-9:15 p.m., the seventh and eighth graders will have the fun.

All Salisbury schools will be closed Oct. 10 in observance of Columbus Day.

Don’t forget about Homecoming weekend. The parade starts at SES 5:30 p.m. Oct. 14 and ends at the high school, leading into the homecoming football game 7 p.m. against Pine Grove. Come out and cheer on our team. Admission is free!

The Homecoming Dance at Salisbury High School will be held 7-10 p.m. Oct. 15.

Is your student interested in joining the swim team? Open swim nights are about to begin. They are held 5:30-7 p.m. at the Rodale Aquatic Center Oct. 18 and 25, Nov. 1 and 8. A list of the aquatic center rules and a waiver to be signed can be found on the school website.

The monthly school board meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the administration building.

Salisbury Township trick-or-treat night will be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28. If you will be handing out candy, don’t forget to have your porch light on.

Salisbury Township yard waste drop off sites are open. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Franko Farm will be open Oct. 6, 8 and 17. The Devonshire site will be open Oct. 10, 13 and 15. For a complete listing of acceptable items, visit the township website under the heading “Refuse and Recycling.”
