Coplay: Coplay Saengerbund plans fundraiser event for Oct. 7

The Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., will hold a fundraiser 6-10 p.m. Oct. 7 for a club member who suffered a brain injury. There will be live music from Flirtin’ with the Mob and a basket raffle.

The event is open to the public.

The Saengerbund’s heritage committee is planning a Weinlesefest (grape dance) 3-6 p.m. Oct. 16. It is a celebration of the grape harvest and the making of new wine.

Music will be provided by the Emil Schanta Band.

There is an admission fee.

The Coplay Halloween parade is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 18.

Coplay’s trick-or-treat night is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28.

The Saengerbund will be holding a fundraiser 6-10 p.m. Oct. 22 to benefit a Whitehall student battling cancer. Doors open 5 p.m.

Dirty Roxx will perform.

The event is open to the public.

Coplay Garden Club next meets 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St.

Now is a great time to plant new perennials and shrubs. They have a better chance to establish themselves during the milder fall months than in spring.

The Saengerbund is holding its annual Halloween party 6-10 p.m. Oct. 28. Doors will open 5 p.m.

Costumes are welcome.

A note from Coplay Borough Public Works Department:

Brush pickup for 2022 ended Sept. 30.

Leaves will be picked up Oct. 1-Dec. 30.

Grass will no longer be collected. There is a drop-off location at 1 Bridge St. Drop-off hours are 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is reminding the community daylight saving time is 2 a.m. Nov. 6. Don’t forget to change your clocks to avoid being late to Sunday church services.

St. John’s is planning a yearlong celebration in 2023 for the its 150th anniversary.

The Coplay Scholarship Fund Committee’s 2022 scholarship program is accepting applications for two $500 scholarships for high school seniors residing in Coplay who plan to attend a college, university, technical school or the police academy.

Coplay Food Bank is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month. The food bank is located in the lower level of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.
