Sheckler News: CASD closed Oct. 10

Catasauqua Area School District will be closed Oct. 10 for Columbus Day. Students will resume their normal schedule Oct. 11.

The Scholastic book fair is coming to Sheckler Elementary School Oct. 17-21, with online sales beginning Oct. 14.

Students will shop during Library Expressive time.

The preferred method of payment is the Scholastic eWallet, which can be found at scholastic.com/bf/sheckler. Cash and checks will be accepted. Checks should be made payable to Sheckler Home and School.

Parents/guardians can place online orders or browse the 360 virtual book fair at the link above.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to visit the Catasauqua Community Cares Program at cattysd.org/Domain/770. The program has a lot of aid to offer students, such as a food bag program, book bags and a winter coat distribution.

Van and bus drivers are needed for CASD. The starting pay is $21.88 per hour.

Candidates must have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. Clearances are also required for this position.

Possible CDL training is available for bus drivers if candidates are interested.

Daily substitute teacher positions for the 2022-23 academic year at Sheckler Elementary are available. The daily substitute teacher reports directly to the building principal. He/she will provide daily instruction in the absence of a regular teacher, implement lesson plans and perform other related duties as assigned by the building administrator.

The daily workday will consist of seven hours of paid work time and 30 minutes of unpaid/unassigned lunch.
