Harassment charges against school board member dismissed

Charges have been dismissed against Whitehall-Coplay School Board member Fady Salloum, who was charged in July with harassment, according to court documents.

The case was closed because neither the police officer who charged Salloum nor the person who alleged inappropriate physical contact by him appeared for the Sept. 19 hearing, according to reports.

The docket from the office of Magisterial District Judge Todd Heffelfinger stated the incident that prompted the charges took place in May. Charges were filed by Whitehall Township police in June. The offense was listed as harassment - subject other to physical contact.

Salloum, of Whitehall, entered a not guilty plea at that time.

The summary trial before Heffelfinger was originally scheduled for August but had been continued to September.
