Elsie A. Edelman

Elsie A. Edelman, 91, of Cherryville, died at home Sept. 18, 2022. She was the wife of the late Robert “Whitey” W. Edelman for 69 years.

Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Anna (Fox) Steiner.

She attended Northampton High School.

She worked in her parents’ hotel business in Beersville and later in Danielsville. She worked for many years at the DeVille Blouse factory, Danielsville, until it closed. She then worked at Redner’s Bakery until she retired.

She was a member of Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church, where she served on the altar guild, ushered and sang on the church choir.

She and her husband volunteered at Gracedale Nursing Home for more than 30 years in music ministry. She was a member of the Coplay Saengerbund.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Gary O’Brien of Cherryville; two grandchildren, Megan Coccetti and husband Peter of Moore Township and Jason O’Brien and wife Marie of Orefield; five great-grandchildren, Gianna, Cameron, Madison, McKayla and Jaxen; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Jr. and Gus J. Steiner; and two sisters, Shirley Hertzog and Hilda Smith.
