Smile: It’s time for school picture days

School picture days are here. The first one will be Salisbury Middle School Sept. 8.

Salisbury High School students will be photographed Sept. 14 and Salisbury Elementary School’s picture day will be Sept. 19.

Open house at SES is next on the agenda. For grades kindergarten and first grade, open house will be 7-8:15 p.m. Sept. 8. Open house for grades 2-4 will be 7-8:15 p.m. Sept. 15.

SES T-shirts came in last week and the first T-shirt day will be Sept. 9.

A Salisbury Township School Board meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14.

All township schools will have an early dismissal Sept. 16. SHS and SMS will dismiss 12:15 p.m. and SES will dismiss 1:15 p.m.

Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church is holding an ice cream social including a concert by the Pioneer Band of Allentown 1 p.m. Sept. 18. Door prizes will be part of the fun.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has named Lehigh County and 35 other counties in a drought watch. DEP Acting Secretary, Ramez Ziadeh said, “We are asking Pennsylvanians in these counties to use water wisely and follow simple water conservation tips to ease the demand for water.”

Salisbury Township is accepting applications for the chief of police. For a job description and list of duties, visit the Salisbury Township website at www.salisburytownshippa.org. The deadline to apply is Sept. 23.

Salisbury Township yard waste drop off sites are open. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Franko Farm will be open Sept. 8, 10 and 19.

The Devonshire site will be open Sept. 12, 15 and 17.
