State DCED director visit

Gwen Ross, Director of Workforce Development Initiatives of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, visited Northampton Community College’s Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem, on August 9, 2022.

Ross discussed the Wolf Administration’s continued investments in Pennsylvania’s manufacturing industry and celebrated the first graduates of a new Precision Machining program funded by DCED.

In April, DCED awarded NCC $50,252 through the Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Grant to develop the program for low-income individuals, veterans and others in the Lehigh Valley. Students in the Precision Machining program, which began in July, were taught safe handling and operation of machining tools that are most commonly used in the manufacturing industry.

Nurse Aide Program begins Sept. 14

Built with lecture, skill lab and clinical components, Northampton Community College’s Nurse Aid (CNA) Program is being offered from Sept. 14 - Oct. 6, Monday through Fridays. The lecture and skill lab portion runs from Sept. 14 - Sept. 27 at the Fowler Family Southside Center. The clinical portion runs from Sept. 28 – Oct. 6 at a designated offsite location.

This essential Nurse Aide Program prepares participants with the skills needed to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program Competency Examination for placement on the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry. As an excellent way to start a career in healthcare, CNAs can work in long-term care facilities, hospitals or other healthcare settings. The program is also a great way for students who need field experience to satisfy requirements towards their major.

To enroll, please visit the course catalog at www.northampton.edu/healthcarecerts or call 610-332-6585.

Northampton Community College’s main campus is located at 3835 Green Pond Road. The Fowler Family Southside Center is located at 511 E. Third St. For information, call 610-861-5000 or visit www.northampton.edu.
