Underclassmen lead XC team in early meet

The Salisbury cross country team got the season underway last Saturday at the Moravian Academy Lion Invitational.

Two Falcon underclassmen led their teams as freshman Emily Batten finished 15th against a field that included runners from large schools like Freedom, Delaware Valley and Abington Heights, along with many Colonial League teams.

In the boys race, sophomore Conor McGinty finished 98th, junior Charlie Morton was the next Falcon across the finish line in 102nd place, followed by freshman Emerson Juhasz (113th), senior Stuart Carl (122nd) and freshman Rafael Carpo.

Freshman Soledad Lausch finished 113th in the girls race at Moravian.

The rest of this year’s Salisbury boys cross country roster includes sophomores Cameron Kubinsnky, Joshua Orach, Greg Tenzer and Joseph Tiao, and freshen Steven Lozada and Riley Nemitz.

The Falcon boys team went 6-18 in the Colonial League last season and finished 10th in the league championship meet. McGinty led the team at leagues with a 39th-place finish. He followed that with a 40th place showing in his first varsity district championship meet.

Senior Katherine Updegrove rounds out the Salisbury girls roster.
