Volunteer opportunities

Support the “Prepare with Pedro” program and save lives presenting emergency preparedness education to youth in school classrooms and other settings. American Red Cross team member roles include presenter, presentation assistant, administrative support or presenter trainer. The 30-45-minute program follows Pedro the Penguin as he learns how to be prepared and take action during an emergency. Contact Danielle Dietze at 570-202-7954 or danielle.dietze@redcross.org.

Support an environment of safety, healing and empowerment that will equip trafficking victims with the necessary services and programs to follow their pursuit of independence. A Shelter Support Ambassador for ASPIRE is responsible for coordinating activities (arts, crafts, etc.), providing support services (listening, being present, etc.) and assisting with daily chores and preparing meals. For community members and students who wish to give back, who want to make a difference in other people’s lives, Lehigh Valley Health Network has numerous volunteer opportunities available throughout the Lehigh Valley. They are seeking energetic and caring individuals to provide support to staff and patients, offer wayfinding assistance to guests, help in gift shops and offer clerical support. Assistance is needed with some small dogs who need love and some social skills, as well as a daily walk, clean kennels and fresh water and food. So they can continue “To educate, inspire and celebrate the visual and performing arts in Nazareth and the Lehigh Valley,” consider sharing your grant writing skills with Nazareth Center for the Arts. The successful volunteer grant writer will work alongside the board (also volunteers) to execute fundraising strategies plans. Volunteers would be able to apply for a board position, when available. St. Luke’s Allentown and Sacred Heart campuses are seeking adult volunteers to join the volunteer team. Help make a difference in your community in a variety of roles including staff and patient support on patient floors, OR waiting room, infusion center and more. Interpreters needed for The Whole Life Center food pantry in Easton. Distribution days are the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. A variety of Latino and Middle Eastern dialects would be very helpful. Volunteers would assist with filling out forms and work with the front desk to help understand and properly meet the needs of the people. Adults only. No fleas for sale here! The Whitehall Historical Preservation Society needs help with their fall flea market 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 10. Join them for set up, parking attendants, food truck coordination, vendor table runners and other tasks associated with a flea market. The minimum age to volunteer is 16 or 14 with an adult.
