Luther Crest resident celebrates 106th birthday

Lillian Iva (Breininger) Folk celebrated her 106th birthday on June 16, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, her party was held July 18 at Luther Crest South Whitehall, with residents, activities directors and family.

Lillian said she loved everyone and was glad she had so many friends there.

Born in Seipstown, she is the daughter of the late Wilson and Mary (Rupp) Breininger.

Lillian was the wife of the late Earl Folk and friend of the late Woodrow Neff.

She was predeceased by 13 siblings.

In her younger years, Lillian worked for stores in Allentown bringing fabric into the homes of customers, pinning it and then returning to the store for sewing.

She then would return the finished product to the customer for the final fitting.

Her one regret, growing up in Seipstown on a farm, is that she could not attend high school because there was no transportation available.

Lillian resides at Luther Crest in the Memory Support Unit.

She loves chocolate, enjoys helping to plant the garden, feeding the fish, doing puzzles and the many activities provided by the staff.
