Fullerton: Whitehall Active Community Center plans penny party

Whitehall Active Community Center, 2301 Pine St., will be hosting a penny party 1 p.m. Aug. 14.

Doors open noon.

Refreshments will be available for purchase.

There is an admission package for purchase.

Bring your jars of pennies and some bags to take home your goodies.

St. Elizabeth Regional School, 433 Pershing Blvd., announced that school for the 2022-23 school year will start Aug. 29 for grades 1-8 and Aug. 31 for kindergarten and pre-K.

School will be closed Sept. 5 for Labor Day, and classes are set to resume Sept. 6.

There are still openings in the pre-K classes, held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 575 Grape St., will be collecting coffee, pancake syrup and cake mix during August.

Other nonperishable food items are always welcome, as are monetary donations.

A shopping cart can be found in the coatroom area by the sanctuary for the donations.

St. John’s UCC also announced construction coming to Grape Street in front of the church.

Work will be done on the gas line and to make the curbs ADA-compliant. Then the resurfacing of the street begins.

Grape Street will be closed, but side streets will still be accessible. Both parking lots should also be accessible.

The project is due to be completed by the end of September.
