Aug. 3

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will host a free food distribution 2-4 p.m. Also Aug. 10, 17, 24 and 31. Signs will be posted to direct where to park and which door to use to pick up food.

Aug. 5

The 59th Annual Das Awkscht Fescht, one of the country’s largest antique and classic car shows, will take place Aug. 5-7 at Macungie Memorial Park. The featured cars this year are foreign cars and motorcycles from England. There will also be kids entertainment and activities, including jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists and clowns. Gates open 6 a.m. for walk-ins and show cars enter after 7:30 a.m. Juried arts and crafts vendors will be open noon to 7 p.m. Aug. 5; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 6 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The flea market remains open until dusk. Musical entertainment continues until 10:30 p.m. Aug. 5, until 10 p.m. Aug. 6 and until 3:45 p.m. Aug. 7. Food will be available for purchase. Fireworks will light up the sky 9:30 p.m. Aug. 6. Aug. 6

Macungie Band at Das Awkscht Fescht car show at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 N. Poplar St., Macungie, 10:30 a.m.

Aug. 11

Macungie Band at the Hills at Lockridge, 7125 Scenic View Drive, Macungie, 7 p.m.

Aug. 12

Macungie Band at Allentown’s West Park band shell at 15th and 16th streets between Linden and Turner streets, Allentown 7:30 p.m. There are benches in front of the band shell and plenty of room for lawn chairs under the big shade trees.

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will offer its monthly drive-up/take-out free community meal 4-5:30 p.m. The meal will include chicken salad sandwiches, Claremont cabbage salad, chips and watermelon.

Aug. 20

The Seed Farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, Emmaus, hosts its inaugural fall plant sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Also 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 21. A wide selection of vegetables, herbs and flowers, all grown at The Seed Farm, will be available for purchase. Varieties that are cold and frost tolerant will be featured. Chuck Thomas, a certified Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide, will lead a wellness hike 8 to 11 a.m. at Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus. The event is part of the Get Out for Wellness series. There is a cost to register. The walk is designed to help participants reconnect with nature. Hikers will spend time along the route pausing and connecting with nature through poetry and meditation. Light refreshments will be offered after the hike. Register online at WildlandsPA.org.

Aug. 21

The 70th annual Vera Cruz Homecoming noon to 8 p.m. Mystic Chain Park, Main Road East, Vera Cruz. Activities will include a cakewalk 3:15 p.m. Food and beverages will be available. Uncle Jeffrey will broadcast live from the Homecoming 3-5 p.m. Musical entertainment will include the Rehrig Brothers noon to 3 p.m. and The Large Flowerheads (Flowerpower) 5-8 p.m. Preceding the annual Homecoming will be the Sunday morning community Homecoming service 9 a.m. at Vera Cruz E.C. Church, 5501 Vera Cruz Road. The service will include special music presented by Jeffrey and Sarah Tankred.

Aug. 26-28

The 43rd Annual Wheels of Time Rod and Custom Jamboree will be held at Macungie Memorial Park. The event helps support local charities and the scholarship program for local Vo-Tech automotive technology graduates. Over 1,500 custom cars and street rods from all over the East Coast will be on display. Special features this year include Dennis Anderson and his Now Truck; TV show cars; Craig Thatcher Band 7 p.m. Aug. 26 and Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods 7 p.m. Aug. 27. Activities include a huge flea market, refreshments, bingo, a basket auction, a cakewalk, Chinese auctions and musical entertainment. There will also be kids’ activities such as crafts and games. The show opens 7 a.m. each day and goes until sundown. Musical entertainment continues until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Aug. 27

A hike of Lehigh Parkway and Fish Hatchery will be offered 10 a.m. to noon as part of the Get Out For Wellness series offered through Wildlands Conservancy. Participants will hike along Little Lehigh Creek through Lehigh Parkway to the historic covered bridge and the hunter’s log cabin and loop back. The hike is appropriate for strollers and wheelchairs. Sept. 24

The band AM Radio will perform 4 p.m. at Franko Park, 1339 Black River Road, Salisbury Township. Concertgoers may bring blankets and lawn chairs. AM Radio performs music of the 1960s and 1970s.
