John E. Barr, 85, of Schnecksville, died peacefully, July 10, 2022, in his home.

He was the husband of the late Nancy L. (McConahy) Barr.

Born Dec. 12, 1936, in Ellwood City, Lawrence County, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (MacAlpine) Barr.

He was a self-employed construction worker and consultant for 45 years before retiring.

He was a member of Slatington Lodge 440, F&AM, Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown, and Rajah Shrine, Reading.

His survivors include a daughter Lee Ann M. Coles and her husband, Patrick, of Virginville; daughter-in-law Stella M. Barr of Orefield, adopted daughter Colleen Berger of Breinigsville; sister Elizabeth I. Snare of Levittown; grandchildren Eric, Brian, Patrick and Zachary; great-grandchildren Brooke, Brecon, Briggs, Breena, Briar, Tyler, Evelyn and Ava; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Timothy J. Barr, and a sister, Joan Hunter.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. July 15 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:50 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Masonic service 10:50 a.m.

Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
