Northampton Area Public Library: Summer reading program going strong

Northampton Area Public Library’s Oceans of Possibilities Summer Quest reading program is going strong with more than 4,165 minutes read in June. Additionally, the library hosted more than 276 attendees at 25 programs.

We look forward to more visits!

Join us for our summer book sale July 13, 14 and 16. There will be books, puzzles and more for extremely reasonable prices. There will also be a bag sale.

Media will be sold separately.

Upcoming children’s programs include Talk Like a Pirate, for those in grades 3-5, 10 a.m. July 11; new craft bags July 18; Sink or Float program, for kindergarten through grade 5, 10 a.m. July 25; and a “storycraft,” for kindergarten through second grade, 6 p.m. July 28.

For teens, there will be new creative projects each week, including do-it-yourself sugar scrubs July 11, recycled bead bracelets, July 18 and light-up steampunk angler fish July 25. Programs start 1 p.m.

Adult programming includes Trash Into Treasure with plarn coaster craft kits ready for pickup July 11, Stitch and Chat Club 6 p.m. July 12, A Day in the Life: Marine Microbial Ecologist program with Dr. Mastassia Patin 7 p.m. July 12 and Oceans of Fun trivia event 6 p.m. July 27.

Additionally, the Laid Back Book Club is reading “Once There Were Wolves” by Charlotte McConaghy.
