Lower Mac goes 3-2-1 in busy week

The Lower Macungie Lehigh Valley Legion baseball team played six games in six days last week, improving to 5-3-1 this season.

The team got a late start after the Emmaus High School team’s run in the state playoffs. With the Hornet varsity players back in the line up the Mustangs are back at full strength.

Lower Mac downed winless Emmaus 11-0 in five innings Saturday during LVL Day at Limeport Stadium.

Dominick Chiego went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the win. Tyler Geist was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Taylor Davis went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Geist pitched four innings and allowed just two hits while striking out three batters. Anthony McWhinney pitched a hitless sixth inning.

Lower Mac fell 10-0 to North Parkland in six innings Friday. Two Buffalo pitchers limited Lower Mac to just three hits in the game.

Lower Mac shut out defending league champ Salisbury Thursday, 7-0.

Chiego went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Ryan Latchford was 2-for-2 and scored three times. Latchford pitched all seven innings on just 71 pitches. He allowed two hits and struck out four Falcon batters.

Northern Valley and Lower Mac battled to a 6-6 tie last Wednesday, June 15. Jackson Merk went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in the game, while teammate Joseph Cook went 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Adam Kleist was 1-for-3 and knocked in three runs.

Lower Mac edged Allentown in a 14-12 slugfest last Tuesday, June 14.

Davis went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, while Cook and McWhinney both had two hits each in the win.

The Mustangs opened last week with a 4-3 loss to Northern Valley. Two Chargers pitchers limited Lower Mac to four hits in the loss.

Lower Macungie has 14 games left to play this season, which ends on June 30.
