’Canes aiming to revamp

Last season was a tale of two stories for Liberty’s baseball team.

The Hurricanes were the best team throughout the regular season, but then came up short in the postseason, losing the in the EPC tournament and falling short in districts.

After a 19-3 campaign from a year ago, the Hurricanes now hope to reload this spring.

“We are replacing seven position players and six pitchers from last year,” said head coach Andy Pitsilos. “Although young, it’s a talented, hard working, group of players that will try and lead Liberty to contend for the EPC and District 11 titles. They will have to do this with disciplined at bats, good defense and quality pitching.”

Back for the ‘Canes include: Hayden O’Neill (Sr. P/IF), Connor McGlaughlin (Sr. P/1B), Addison Collins (Sr. OF), Jacob Sheirer (Sr. 3B), Zane Landis (IF/OF), Reece D’Amico (Jr. C), Tommy Mason (Jr. OF), JC Spinosa (Jr. SS), Ayden Zabala (Jr. OF) and Braylen Gonzalez (So. OF).

Newcomers are John Galgon (Jr. P/1B), Caden Brozino (Jr. P/3B), Evan Applegate (Jr. P/OF), Tate George (Jr. 2B),

Delvin Rodriguez (Jr. 1B), Aaron Clark (Jr. 2B), Miguel Diaz-Rivera (Jr. C/1B), Jacob Rivera (So. P/1B) and Noah Gyauch-Quirk (So. P/OF).

“We need to play as a team,” said Pitsilos. “We need to be better at the end of the year than the beginning. Our goal is to win our division, the EPC and District 11 title.
