Cops ‘n’ Kids feeds the soul and the belly

The Cops ‘n’ Kids program is always looking to provide new adventures with different stories.

Cops ‘n’ Kids is a program where local police come and read to children of the community.

Last summer Cops ‘n’ Kids ran a special session on Wednesdays. To be a participant, parents had to register their child for one of the Wednesdays’ readings because seating was limited for the morning and afternoon sessions.

One afternoon session was called “Tacos with the Chief.” Bethlehem Police Chief Michelle Kott read to an audience of children and their parents from the book “Dragons Love Tacos.”

After the story, Chef Colin Metzger of Sodexco did a presentation of how to make tacos. Following the presentation, everyone feasted on the tacos. As a special bonus, three names were drawn to receive a free copy of the book Chief Kott had read. Everyone was then encouraged to head to the third floor to the Cops ‘n’ Kids Reading Room, where every child was given the chance to pick a book free of charge for their own personal collections. The program Cops ‘n’ Kids celebrated giving out its millionth book in mid-2021.
