Hokendauqua: Church donates to food pantry, WCHI

First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, 3005 S. Front St., as of Jan. 4, has made a profit (after expenses) of $800 from the Feeding Your Flock cookbook.

The committee decided to donate $400 each to Whitehall Food Pantry and Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative.

The cookbook is filled with more than 160 recipes submitted by members of the congregation and friends. There may be a few copies left. If interested, contact the church office at hokeypres@gmail.com or 610-264-9693.

Sales from the recent candy orders came to $1,231. Part of the profits will be used to replace loose Formica on the church kitchen island and buy a stand mixer. Additional purchases are planned for the rest of the proceeds but have not yet been decided.

Also, 82 items were given to Turning Point of Lehigh Valley from the church’s recent mitten tree donations. In addition to mittens, hats, gloves and scarves were also collected.
