Holiday enforcement results announced

Pennsylvania State Police authorities recently announced the results of traffic enforcement for the New Year’s holiday.

In a media release, authorities said troopers in Troop M, which includes Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks counties, investigated 32 crashes and made 25 arrests for driving under the influence between 12:01 a.m. Dec. 31, 2021 and 11:59 p.m. Jan. 2.

The enforcement effort involved the following specifically trained trooper groups.

•The safety initiative Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement Education Program trained troopers, targeting motorists who aggressively drive in a manner dangerous to members of the public, such as speeding, seat belt violations and child seat belt infractions.

• The Selective Traffic Enforcement Against Drunk Drivers and Drug Recognition Expert trained troopers specifically focused on apprehending motorists who drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Increased patrols are conducted by Pennsylvania State Police during holiday periods.
