Early dismissal for students Jan. 14

Welcome to 2022! I hope the New Year is off to a great start for everyone. The holiday season is behind us and I hope everyone had time to rest and spend time with those they love and care about. Let’s move into 2022 cautiously optimistic.

Salisbury students will be easing back into classes after the long break. Looking forward, all students will have an early dismissal Jan. 14. Salisbury High School and Salisbury Middle School will dismiss 12:15 p.m. while Salisbury Elementary School will dismiss 1:15 p.m.

All schools will be closed Jan. 17 for a teacher in-service day.

Jan. 14 will be SES’s first T-shirt day of the new year. Show off that Falcon pride.

Christmas tree collection is scheduled to begin in January, on the second pickup with your garbage, for the entire month. Please remember any tree over 6 feet long does need to be cut in half.

The Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, is offering free computer technology classes on Thursdays. The first class, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Jan. 6 is on computer basics. The next class 9:30-10:30 a.m. Jan. 13 is on Internet basics. E-magazines will be discussed 9:30-10:30 a.m. Jan. 20. Sign up at the reference desk for any or all of these classes.

Wildlands Conservancy is offering “Get Out! for Wellness: No Soup for You!” 10 a.m. to noon at the Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, 3701 Orchid Place, Emmaus. Enjoy the company of fellow walkers at the safe, social distance of 6 feet, as you explore the wintry trails at the Sanctuary. Prizes will be given to those “Get Out! for Wellness” folks who have been on 10 or more hikes in 2021. You’ll enjoy s’mores at the end of the hike.

This event is appropriate for all ages. Dress in layers for the weather. Wear comfortable shoes. The boardwalk along the Little Lehigh is appropriate for strollers and wheelchairs. There is a disabled-accessible parking pad next to this trail. Bathrooms are available. This event is free.

Get Out! for Wellness is provided in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network with the goal of connecting wellness and healthy outdoor living.
