LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Whitehall to recognize Hometown Heroes with banners

Whitehall Township is launching a Hometown Heroes banner program to recognize servicemen and women from the township who have served or are serving in a branch of the military.

The banners are 30 inches wide by 60 inches tall. Each will honor a specific Whitehall Township serviceman or woman and will include his/her photo, branch of service and era of service.

Sponsors - friends, families or businesses - will pay for the banners. Sponsorship will be named on the banner.

Banners will be displayed on utility poles around Whitehall Township Memorial Day 2022 through Veterans Day 2022, after which the banners will be returned to the sponsors.

A dedication of the banners will take place at Whitehall Township’s Memorial Day ceremony, scheduled for May 30 at the municipal building, 3219 MacArthur Road.

The cost for banner sponsorship is $250. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 28 and will only be processed with a fully completed form, photo and check or money order made payable to Whitehall Township.

To request an application, call the township’s recreation bureau at 610-437-5524, ext. 1135. Completed applications can be sent to Whitehall Township Recreation Bureau, 3219 MacArthur Road, Whitehall, 18052.
