James S. Keiser

James S. Keiser, 78, formerly of Emmaus, died Dec. 19, 2021, at home in Heidelberg, Germany. He was the husband of Gudrun Strauch Keiser. They observed 55 years of marriage April 9, 2021. He was the son of the late David M.L. Keiser Jr. and Margaret A. Wessner Keiser.

He was a 1961 graduate of Emmaus High School and immediately entered the U.S. Army and retired with the rank of master sergeant in 1985. He served during the Vietnam War calling in air strikes. He worked for the Germany Site Staff of Central Texas College for several years.

He was very well versed in history and keenly intelligent. He and his wife were world travelers, especially taking the time to visit historical sites, old churches and beautiful gardens that made him happy. He was very knowledgeable of Emmaus history and often told stories to the family.

He was a former member of the Hemlock Hunting Club in Sullivan County, an avid hunter and marksman.

He is survived by his wife; sister, Darlene and her husband, John Hale, of Allentown; niece, Mary Hale, of Allentown; nephew, Jeff Hale and his wife, Tammy, of Bethlehem; nephew, David and his wife, Diane, of Oregon; nephew, Donald; niece, Carol; niece, Melissa and her husband, Jason Zimmer; cousins; sister-in-law, Gerianne. He was predeceased by a brother, Clarence.

Burial is at Bergfriedhof Cemetery in Heidelberg, Germany.
