Driver killed in one-vehicle Greenwich Township crash

A 21-year-old San Juan, Puerto Rico, man died after the 2016 Acura TLX he was operating was involved in a one-vehicle crash at 12:39 a.m. Dec. 7 on I-78 at Exit 40, Greenwich Township, Berks County.

According to Lehigh County Coroner Eric Minnich, Julian A. Rodriguez was pronounced dead at 1:51 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

An autopsy was performed Dec. 7, Minnich said.

According to State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, troopers came upon the Acura stopped in the lane of travel on the ramp from Route 33 South to I-78 West, Lower Saucon Township, Northampton County.

As troopers attempted to approach the car, Rodriguez fled traveling west on I-78.

Troopers pursued the fleeing vehicle into Lehigh County and then into Berks County.

Rodriguez continued to flee, and attempted to exit the Interstate at Exit 40, where he lost control of the car.

Troop M Forensic Services Unit, Troop M Collision Analysis Reconstruction Unit, V and M Towing, Kutztown and Kempton fire companies and Cetronia Ambulance Corps personnel assisted at the scene.
