Mary Ann Sterner, 86, of New Market, Va., and formerly of Whitehall, died Dec. 6, 2021, at Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of Robert W. Sterner for 64 years.

Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Cherowich) Gillette.

She was a secretary for Robert Turko Insurance, Allentown, for 30 years, retiring in 2005.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Whitehall, where she was a choir member for years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jeffrey H. and his wife Jeannie of New Market, Va., and James R. of Bethlehem; a daughter, Kathleen M. and her husband Daniel Kotran of Whitehall; five brothers, Joseph Gillette of Catasauqua, Peter Gillette and his wife Estelle of Houston, Texas, Paul Gillette of Northampton, Timothy Gillette and his wife LaFerne of Acwoth, Ga., and Anthony Gillette of Northampton; five sisters, Agnes Berg of Whitehall, Elizabeth Arey of Catasauqua, Angela and her husband of Oliver Resh of Whitehall, Therese Gillette of Bethlehem and Margaret Rawson of Whitehall; four grandsons, Daniel, Christopher, Robbie and William; and three great-grandsons, Wyatt, Fynn and Colsin.

She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Christopher and Edward.

Funeral service will be private.
