FHS swim team has high hopes

Freedom swimming coach Alisha Roscioli is looking forward to great swim times, broken personal records, and a few Patriot district qualifiers for the 2021-2022 season, a season which reverts to the way things used to be before COVID: in-person dual meets and fans in the stands.

While the Pates’ roster numbers are low, hopes are high for a few key returners from last year’s team.

On the boys’ side are Andrew Ehret, Ryan Rummel, and Luke McClure.

On the girls’ side are Aliah Corrado, Lilly Anderson, Deb Belen, and Katie Twigger.

“We have a great group of kids with a lot of determination,” Roscioli said.

Corrado, Rummel, and Ehret will captain the Pates this season.

“The captains are expected to lead the team in a positive light and help with many aspects, amongst other expectations,” said Roscioli.

Roscioli sees the boys’ 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and 500 free, as well as the girls’ 200 IM, 50 free, 100 back, 100 breaststroke, and 500 free as the Pates’ strongest events.

Freedom’s season opener is scheduled for this Tuesday at Easton, past Press deadlines, and the Patriots will host Allentown Central Catholic on Dec. 21.
