School board OKs CLIU contract

During the Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting Nov. 8, the board approved a contract between Whitehall-Coplay School District and Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 to manage AncellaSchool Enrollment Express.

The board also approved the differential price on the diesel fuel bid and gasoline bid to PAPCO, Aston, conducted jointly with Parkland School District, beginning Nov. 1 through June 30, 2022.

In addition, the board gave approval for the PlanCon D project accounting based on estimates and PlanCon E design development of the new building for the new elementary school project.

The board approved a resolution that authorizes D’Huy Engineering Inc. to prepare and submit an application to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Office of Multimodal Transportation for a Multimodal Transportation Fund Grant for up to $126,000 for the pedestrian improvement project in accordance with agreed-upon contract terms.

Also at the meeting, the board approved teacher education credit salary increases that recognize professional employees who have successfully completed credits beyond their degree as per the agreement between WCSD and Whitehall-Coplay Education Association.

Approved retirements include Mark Bushek, special education teacher at Whitehall-Coplay Middle School, and Kathy Walck, copy room aide at Whitehall High School.

Approved resignations include Stacee Banko, paraprofessional at WCMS; Kathy Wieder, cafeteria worker at Zephyr Elementary School; Caitlin Johnson, biology teacher at WHS; Rosemary Hogan, non-CDL districtwide van driver; and Bethany Lewis, Gaming Club adviser at WHS.

New appointments include Bridget Santiago, Life Skills teacher at WCMS, with a salary of $61,626 per year, revised from $60,476; salaried substitute Adrienne Corrigan, school counselor at WCMS, with a salary of $56,120; Megan Ehrig, districtwide coordinator of data information, a new position, at $45,000; Jonathan Koch, security at WHS, at $18.75 per hour, with an increase to 40 hours per week; and Kaitlyn Hudak, MTSS math paraprofessional at Steckel Elementary School, at $18.85 per hour.

Approved coaches for the 2021-22 season include Jeffrey Vivian, head softball coach, at $6,410 per year, and Nicholas Dazza, Michael Cannon and Kristopher Krawchuk, assistant wrestling coaches, all volunteers.

Approved club advisers at WCMS include Andrew Simock and Ashley Koren, at $350 each.

The board also approved teacher induction participants, including Erin Dolan, mentor to Jessica Englert, at $650.
